Andre the Giant could have been famous for his size alone. While his real name was Andre Rene Roussimoff, the French professional wrestler earned his famous nickname in the ring of the World Wrestling Federation, known today as the WWE. During his wrestling career, he was a one-time WWF Champion, a one-time WWF World Tag Team Champion, and was later inducted to the WWF Hall of fame in 1993.

Andre's fame in the ring opened the door to Hollywood, and in 1975 he made his acting debut as "Big Foot" in The Six Million Dollar Man. He went on to appear in several television series and movies. Though professionally Andre will always be remembered as The 8th Wonder of the World, he is known and loved by fans across the globe as The Gentle Giant.
